Candy Corn Cookies

Every year I make a little something for the neighbors for all the holidays. This year, for Halloween I made these Sugar cookies. I made the dough and separated it into 3 piles. I added melted chocolate chips to one, pumpkin to another and layered all 3 in a loaf pan. After getting firm in the fridge I sliced an 1/4 inch slice and cut triangle shapes and baked. THe kids had a blast helping and eating the dough. I stuck them in cute mini bags and we delivered them.

Going batty

I'm going batty for this dress. It's the perfect october get up. OF course it doesn't have the prefect price.

Act your age

Alright, I'll admit it. I can't and shouldn't buy clothes at stores like Urban Outfitters anymore. I need to dress more my age, which is 33 BTW. I've been hunting and it is so frusterating feeling in between the teen clothes and the "women" clothing. I have found a few things that I liked at Boden though. It still feels a little too old for me, maybe it's time to act my age.

I love this 60s inpired skirt and I love that it is orange.
I really like this print and I think it would look cute tucked in, bloused out with skinny jeans and black boots.
I just like all the color and print really.
I still really dig black and mustard yellow. I really want a yellow skirt this year.
Age appropriate, am I right? I like the pop of color with the belt.
Everyone needs a coat for fall. I love the bright buttons on this one.

Etsy projects

I love these blocks. It would be so fun to find the prints to cover them. I love the old ticket stub on the bottom picture.
I love this idea by Hongeyandsquish at etsy. Turn an old doll house into a haunted house. IT looks like a really fun project.

Haunted house

I'm done decorating! I love spending a few days and adding a littl spooky to the house. Here's the hall and entryway. I'm still going to add some cob webs spread over everything too.
I had an old bag of candy corns and let's face it, who really eats those anyway. they look pretty cute like this though.
ooooo..really bad lighting, but this is the stairway decor. I used a few of the fake tea lights and set them around the pumpkins too. They flicker and night and it looks really cool.
I have finally found a good halloween tree. Pier 1 had this and it was just what I was looking for. THe ornaments are from there too. I bought a few last year and added a few to the collection this year. IT's a hit with the kids.

THE KITCHEN AND PLAY ROOM:
Kitchen table. The Kettle I found at safeway on sale. I'm hoping to add some texture and dirty it up a bit next year, but I love it. The material is my favorite . It looks really fabulous with the rest of the room. Too bad you can't see that now.

Garlands of candy corn.
This is a mask I got in the dollar section fo target. The other window has a bat. the Candy corns were from Pier 1 last year.

Best thing I ever did. Liam is so anxious to ehlp decorate and I try to give him all the projects I can and practice giving away control for myself. THe problem is that I will arrange something a certain way and then he will arrange it secretly another way and a battle of decorators will begin. THis year I got these bendable skeletons at Target and let LIam pose them on the bookshelves however he wants. I let him know that he can keep arranging them all Halloween long too. He's had a blast changing them up.

THE LIVING ROOM:
This web looks really cool when your ouside too. It's all glittery and sparkly so I love that too. I got it at Pier 1 this year. I got the spider for it at Freddy's though.

I have been dying to find a good halloween wreath for a few years and I finally found this one at Pier 1 Imports. I love it!
These are a few of my favorite halloween trinkets. The globe has glitter and bats flying around the house when you shake it. it's pretty spooky. THe bookm I made a few years ago with paint and tissue paper, THe toad was a gift and I've never seen one like it anywhere. I got the pumpkin totem 2 years ago at Pier 1.
Eric as a werewolf and myself as a witch. But you've seen these already..
Spooky T.V. center decor. I have since painted the white pumpkin with black glitter and I love the swamp things garland I got at Fred Meyer last year.

Trick or Treat

I'm replacing the flowers with stacked pumpkins soon. But they are beautiful as well.

I got these witch hat lighted strands from target this year. I have to say they are adorable and the neighbor kids love them. They add just a little bit of magic outside.

I caught this adorable shot of the kids cracking open nuts that they found on the ground. It was the perfect picture to end the day of fall decorating.

witches wardrobe

I love the vintage look to this dress. I love browsing etsy at halloween time. there are always things that you can't find anywhere else.

Creepy crawlers

FOr some reason, this looks like a really interesting and fun project. THe science nerd side of me is doing the slow clap. I need to do it just to see how it works. wish me luck.

Dasterdly decorating

I am currently flying around the house decorating for Halloween. I so love the couple of days I spend finding my favorite things and the delight of finding things you forgot that you had, or watching my son studiously placing rubber skeletons in positions that will bring the best reaction from me, on the bookshelves, or listen to him whisper excitedly to his friend about the Magic Cauldron and it's ability to bring candy when little children choose not to be naughty. But I add new things to my decor too. One day, when I have time and less projects planned I will make banners like these.
I love black and white at Halloween and I love that you can mix modern with vintage.
How Martha does a party. I have wanted to throw a Black and Orange gala for years but I have yet to find the time.. oh well, I still have next year.

Owl get right on it

So I bought this fabulous fabric from a quilting store last year and I have yet to use it. It was meant to make a pinafore for my daughter and I think I will continue with my evil plan this year.

I've been browsing all the cute pinafores on Etsy and I officially have an idea. Halloween and Autumn is my favorite time of year and I am obsessed with owls this year. I'm going to attempt to make the front of the pinafore an owl. The think straps with hook behind the owl and the large buttons will serve as eyes. the straps will be stitched onto the back (basically an outline) of the owl. The skirt will have a think band and pin tucks. I'm hoping she can wear it alone with a tee shirt and have the option to put it over a longer dress so that is has an apron look to it. Wish me luck. I'm using no patterns so this is going to be an adventure.

Auto-tune the news

Everything sounds better in auto-tune. I've lost my taste for watching the news for the last year or so but this makes me want to turn it on again

Dr. Who

Eric and I are madly in love with BBC's Dr. Who series. David Tennant is slated to be the best Dr. Who ever and we think he delivers. You can appreciate the vintage throwbacks and the modern aliens alike and despite the pure silliness, it has heart. Wish I had a clip, but you should just start at the beginning.

Halloween Wedding

I have been counting the days until september when I can officially blog about Halloween and fall festivities and the like. I love this Halloween styled wedding idea. It makes me feel warm all over.
